ABOUT EMILY HANDREN

THREE REASONS YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE.

Hi, I’m Emily Handren.

And, I hate cliche, fake and worthless words.  I love connecting and intimate relationships.  That’s why I’m glad you’re here.

You know how so many “About Me” pages are written in the third person like a biography?  I don’t want that here.  I want to connect with YOU.

So, I’m going to tell you about myself so that you can decide if I am someone you want to know, and more importantly, if I’m someone who can help you create the life you dream of.

I’m 36 years old. I live in NJ right outside of NYC, and I travel about half the year.  I love the northeast, being a born-and-raised Jersey girl.  I also have a great love for the South, since I lived there for 10 years.

I’m a proud doggie mama to Lucy and Bella.

I’m a therapist, yogi, meditation teacher, entrepreneur, and sex and relationship coach.

I have merged the beliefs and theories of many modalities to create programs that focus on each person’s unique attributes and abilities to attain maximum life-changing results in the following areas:

mindset

mindfulness

self-love

relationships

spirituality

understanding finance

overall well-being

While I have helped and can help many people, my path is not for everyone.

So let’s talk about if this is for you or not.

For many of you the answer is NO.

Here’s why:

1

I can’t fix you because you are not broken.

For some reason, people think a counselor or coach fixes a person and does it quickly.

I get it. Getting fixed was what attracted me to coaching and counseling years ago.

I thought it would be easy to change and I could just pay some money, hit a “fix me” button, and the work would be done for me.

Well, that is so far from being true.

Turns out you have to do the hard stuff for yourself.

To get the end result I wanted I committed to the process.  I listened to and followed the suggestions of coaches, counselors, shamen, books, and scriptures of many different religions. I went to school and became a licensed counselor, meditation teacher, and yoga instructor.

You see I got really honest about who I am, what challenges I have, and became super vulnerable to reach my goals.

(Which if you do this right, it is a fun, continuous, and rewarding process.)

I learned that none of us are broken, and none of us need to be fixed. Instead, we are born with a set of attributes that can be improved upon and nurtured.

After years of self work, school, and practice I am able to assist others. A huge benefit of working with me is that we can go faster then if you did this alone.

Trust me I know this from my own experience, having a guide is the best way to cut through your B.S. and get to the real work.

It’s a partnership where the client needs to be motivated and implement my suggestions. It takes a lot of work and commitment on both of our parts.

Even after all the work, it takes daily maintenance to keep yourself where you want to be.

So if you’re not prepared to commit to roughly ten times more effort than you’re expecting, then I’m not your coach.

I coach with love and empathy, but it’s up to you to put in most of the work and effort.

2

If you’re not willing to invest in yourself, then you are not going to enjoy my program or working with me.

When you start going down the personal development rabbit hole you’re going to start seeing all kinds of ads for gurus recommending their “quick fixes.” Basically, this is the Law Of Attraction, when you are focused on something, you’ll start seeing more and more of it.

Do some of those programs work?

Probably, for the short term. However, nothing quick is reliable and sustainable. Permanent change is done with small daily behaviors that over time create the person you want to be.

In my opinion, it’s a huge waste of time focusing on lots of different things if you don’t have a plan that puts it all together for you.

You require working on all of you, but it’s important to not overwhelm yourself with doing it all at once or too fast.  Slow and steady progress is what will result in lasting changes.

3

If you’re not looking for the BEST way to create true lasting results than this is not for you.

It’s important you understand what I am telling you.

I can help you, I just won’t. I am capable of it, but I refuse to do it.

Why?

Because when I hear someone ask “What’s the easiest way?”, what I am hearing is, “I’m not fully committed to taking your suggestions, I’m not fully committed to making decisions that will change my life, I’m not fully committed to coaching and personal development, and most importantly, I am not committed to myself.”

And that translates to “I don’t want to the work.”

Look, personal development is very rewarding but not always easy. In fact, you’ll feel vulnerable and uncertain at times. Yes, once you do all the heavy lifting you’ll feel amazing and ready to take on any challenge, but that is after doing the work.

It takes work and commitment to release past trauma, negative thoughts, and self-limiting beliefs. Once you work through the surface stuff than some more will pop up, but at that point you’ll have a new perspective that will allow you to easily resolve it.

Are you ready for the BEST way
to create long lasting change?

You still here?

Great!! There’s hope for us.

Let me tell you

what you can expect from me.

Love and empathy.

A commitment to you and wanting to see you succeed.

Actionable strategies to help you right now for free. Which will be followed by…

Blatant sales pitches.

Hey, I told you I have to be my authentic self. That person is a healer and a business woman all at the same time.

I’ve seen many of my colleagues go broke by not asking for what they are worth. If I am going to teach you to get what you want and deserve, then I have to start with doing it first.

I believe in and implement the simple strategy of lead by example.

So yes, I just told you flat out that you’re going to get very blatant sales pitch from me. I promised you honesty and that is what I will deliver.

I ask life to give me what I want.

I EXPECT YOU TO DO THE SAME THING!!

Leading by example will always be a strategy I believe in and implement.

If you have ever been the leader, the nurturer, the person who shoulders all the weight to take care of others, you know how quickly that can burn you out.

I learned that I had to create boundaries and rules in my life that make it so I can continue to lead and nurture others without it being detrimental to my own health.

I WILL TEACH YOU TO DO THE SAME THING.  (AND IT WILL FEEL SO GOOD!)

So, along with love and empathy, commitment to your success and actionable strategies that will help you for free, there will also be things I will offer you for a fee.

If you understand that value system, then we can keep talking 🙂

You may be thinking to yourself…

Then you probably would not like 500 Affirmations to Improve the Quality of Your Life, which is 500 Affirmations, 6 different ways to incorporate them, and a bunch of other great material that you can read about here.

However, you most likely came here looking for an answer, and it’s no coincidence that you’re search landed you here.

I believe that’s because my path and your path have been on intersecting courses for a very long time.

Here’s how I got here. . .

In 1999 I entered into the world of personal development through yoga and meditation at my college recreation center.

For months, I stewed over a friend’s suggestion to try a yoga class.

What it came down to I was super stressed out.

I was attending college full-time, working a full-time job, volunteering, a member of a sorority, and in a few different honor societies.

I never had a day off and felt exhausted all of the time.

I was willing to try anything to reduce my stress so I went to my first yoga class.

One day a week I worked 2pm-10pm and didn’t have any other responsibilities. Luckily, my school had a perfectly timed yoga class that day so I could sleep in, go to yoga, and make it to work on time.

Now I should pause here and say the only sports team I was a member of was the tennis team and only for one year in high school.

I walked into yoga out of shape.  My mind, body, and spirit were completely inflexible.

Not to put too many pictures in your head, but imagine your worst yogi you tube video and I probably was more awkward.

It didn’t matter.

I released my self-judgement and allowed myself

to just be me in that 50 minute class.

I remember thinking to myself “I feel so awkward and absolutely fantastic.”

That class introduced me to yoga, meditation, and mantras.

Mantras is another name for affirmations or empowering statements.

In that moment I knew by looking inside I could
solve my stress problem and so much more.

I spent the next 18 years going deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole of personal development, meditation, and psychology.

I spent years honing my craft by reading books on personal development, yoga, meditation, crystals, tarot cards, business, finance, and biographies of many philanthropists.

In 2010 I became a classically trained Hatha yoga teacher and taught 3 weekly classes in Atlanta. I became a go to sub teacher for many studio owners because I learned all the different styles of yoga instead of focusing on just Hatha Yoga.

At this time I had also become a meditation teacher following the guidelines of Patanjali Yoga Sutras.

You see I have the kind of personality where the more I add into my schedule the better I perform.

At this point I was:

Working a full-time job during the day in finance.

Teaching 3 yoga classes a week in 2 well respected studios.

Training to be a meditation teacher.

Which is a very full schedule but then…

I decided to go back to school full time and
get a masters of science in counseling.

When I commit to learning a skill and trade there is no half-way.

I selected the longest most detailed program available to learn about all areas of mental health.

In 2012 I graduated with a 60-credit MS in Professional Counseling.

I have worked thousands of hours with clients in hospital and private practice settings.

Nothing against education but I learned the most from all the outside reading and studying I did with a variety of experts.

I studied:

neurofeedback therapy

yoga therapy

loving kindness meditation

nutrition

neurolinguistic programing

psychopharmacology

and many other specialities in the mental health field.

There was a lot of trial and error using all the different techniques I’ve learned and now I know what works for most people.

There are always exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, I can find a solution to almost any mindset or life challenge you are experiencing.

What it breaks down to is that I have spent the last 18 years trying it all out for others, with some amazing results.

It is amazing to me to think, it all started with yoga, meditation, and some positive statements.
